Goldsmiths Professional Development Award
2013 - 2018
The award was created to help a student in on the BA course to create and deliver a design project during their second year, in lieu of a commercial placement. This format worked for the first 6 years when we changed the award to the final year, to reflect the evolving nature of the design course (where the commercial placement was reduced to just a few weeks in the summer holidays between 2 and 3rd years). In this new guise the award was given on at the final degree show and the winner had the summer to put together an event/project to show at the London Design Festival (Belen Palacios, Hannah Fasching and Haeyoun Kim). This format worked until the final two years (Matt Edgson and Laura Durward), when we decided to forgo the LDF and offer a longer time frame for the awards to be delivered within.
